Photo Recap By Josh Brick / June 28, 2022 Three-time Grammy Award and NPR Tiny Desk winner Fantastic Negrito delivered a passionate and fiery performance at 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on June 22. The accomplished blues/funk/R&B icon released his most ambitious work to date – touring in support of White Jesus Black Problems, a genre-defying album that focuses on Negrito's ancestral history – particularly the everlasting love shared by his white grandmother (an indentured servant) and his black, enslaved grandfather in 1750's Virginia. His familial history tells a story that is still frighteningly relevant in this country today but focuses on his grandparents' resilience and quest for freedom. Check out the masterpiece album film here. Negrito and his talented band embark on a 15-date European tour next month before returning to the DMV area on September 15 at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, MD. Check out his full schedule here and don't miss your chance to see a musical genius in his prime!
