Ah, yes—Six Foot Blonde. The name alone turns heads, and the sound? It keeps them turned. Hailing from Bloomington, Indiana, this six-piece indie pop outfit has been quietly—then not-so-quietly—building something special. Fronted by the magnetic Julia Rusyniak, whose vocals land somewhere between soul-soaked storytelling and indie daydream, the band pulls from a rich palette: jazz-tinged keys (courtesy of John Alex Rusyniak), tasteful slide guitar from Elliott Obermaier, and a rhythm section that knows how to anchor a groove without getting in its way.
In 2024, they made their Washington, D.C. debut at Pearl Street Warehouse, and for those lucky enough to be there, it felt like one of those you-had-to-be-there nights. The songs—honest, unpretentious, catchy without being cloying—hit with emotional clarity, and the band delivered them with the kind of chemistry that can’t be faked.
Now, they’re stepping things up.
On July 22, Six Foot Blonde will take the stage at The Atlantis, the newly resurrected D.C. venue where future stars tend to make their mark. It's the kind of room that has a knack for booking bands just before they hit the tipping point—and all signs suggest that’s exactly where Six Foot Blonde is headed.
Opening the night is local artist Josee Molavi, whose genre-bending blend of indie folk, pop, and poetic lyricism has been turning heads across the D.C. scene. Her presence on the bill adds another layer of depth and discovery—an opening set worth showing up early for.

So if you’re in the mood to hear a band just before they break, circle the date. Six Foot Blonde, with Josee Molavi in tow, is coming for D.C.—and The Atlantis might not know what hit it.
