Community News By DC Music Review Staff / March 15, 2024 On Tuesday, March 5th, Power To The Patients held a special performance for invited health care advocates, healthcare professionals, and legislatures where they brought their message of making our healthcare system more honest, affordable, equitable, and accessible through real, upfront prices. Before Foo Fighters took the stage, Fat Joe, Chuck D, and Valerie June shared their personal stories about the fear and uncertainty we all face when hospitals and insurers hide their prices. That’s why they urged ALL Members of Congress to support the bipartisan Health Care PRICE Transparency Act 2.0, cosponsored by Senators Bernie Sanders and Mike Braun. The Senate bill builds on progress made by the House, and will protect all patients, workers, employers, unions, and consumers by empowering them with access to all upfront prices, receipts, and claims data to ensure billing integrity and avoid overcharges.Fat Joe, Valerie June, and Chuck D (Left to Right) speak at the Power to the Patients. Estimates are bullsh*t. We want the prices.” Despite recent polling that revealed 94% of Americans support systemwide healthcare price transparency, a new report found only 34.5% of hospitals in the U.S. are fully complying with the federal Hospital Price Transparency Rule. Dave Grohl dedicated "My Hero" to Chuck D from the stage late into the evening. We truly feel that all the performers and speakers on stage and behind the scenes are our heroes. We recognize that so long as mortality holds steady at 100% and we are all vulnerable to accidents and health issue we need to join with others and request that Congress acts NOW to strengthen and expand healthcare price transparency. People should not be afraid to go to a doctor, afraid to go to a hospital, and terrifed of being admitted to a hospital where they may leave thousands of dollars in debt. This means NO estimates, ALL real prices and receipts for care. Now, more than ever, Americans need financial certainty, integrity, and accountability in their healthcare. As a music website, but more importantly, as human beings who are just as subseptible to illness and medical bills, we encourage you to show your continued support and subscribe to the healthcare revolution and join us in your support.(Photos Courtesty of: Taylor Hill/Getty Images for Swift River Productions) Additional Resources Additional Resources AdditionalResources To learn more about Power To The Patients, please see the following web resources:WebpageFacebookInstagramYouTubeX / Twitter Related Articles Related Articles Related Articles Foo Fighters Keep the Movement for Healthcare Price Transparency RockingRead More Let’s Party For A Purpose – Jam For Jodi Benefit Concert Coming This Saturday – January 10thRead More Salaam Remi’s Musezeum Pop-Up Lands in DCRead More Wammies 35th Anniversary Recap – Celebrating Music In The DMVRead More The 2022 Wammie Award Season Is Well Under Way – Public Voting Opens January 1st, 2022Read More Peace Through Music: A Global Event for the Environment Set For December 15thRead More “A Year in the Pit: A Journey into Music Photography” Premiers In Harrisonburg, VirginiaRead More Blues Alley is Back in Georgetown!
