Last year, Shadowgrass emerged from Lexington, Kentucky, and took the bluegrass world by storm. There was considerable buzz in DC when this powerful quintet made their DMV appearance at Pearl Street Warehouse on May 7th, 2023. With so much buzz and anticipation for their debut, fans walked away from that performance in awe, remarking, "That band is the real deal! Those guys can pick up a storm!" Shadowgrass will once again perform at Pearl Street Warehouse on Friday, April 26th, 2024.
The band includes Kyser George (guitar), Luke Morris (mandolin), Clay Russell (banjo), David George (bass), and Madison Morris (fiddle) and with their fast picking and fresh arrangements, ShadowGrass continues to expand their audience, performing coast to coast in 2023. In 2023 at Pearl Street Warehouse, they delighted fans with bluegrass standards–like "Freeborn Man" and "Old Home Place," and several covers including the Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider," Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," among others. With their fast picking, fresh arrangements, and diverse catalog of songs and covers, they have caught the attention of some of the biggest names in bluegrass, including Jeremy Garrett of The Infamous Stringdusters and Billy Strings, who recognized and stopped to talk with them in a chance meeting at an airport. So impressed was Billy Strings that he invited Shadowgrass to his debut festival, Renewal Festival, and joined them onstage during their performance.
Shadowgrass continued to impress DMV fans when they performed at The Ramble Festival in October 2023. If not for the slight drizzle during their performance, stagehands might have had to take a fire extinguisher to Kyser George's guitar - such was the the ferocity of his guitar solos that day. Meanwhile, Madison Morris's beautiful and heartfelt delivery of Tedeschi Trucks Band's "Midnight In Harlem" brought fans to their knees. We can only hope that one day Morris has the opportunity to sing alongside Susan Tedeschi to this song. After such an impressive performance, Shadowgrass left the stage once again to thunderous applause having gained new fans in the DMV.
If you have not seen Shadowgrass perform live, this is a golden opportunity to see them in such an intimate setting. If you have already seen Shadowgrass perform live, you are just as excited as we are to see them return to Washington, DC.
We hope to see you at Pearl Street Warehouse on Friday, April 26th.
