DelYeah! – DelFest 2024 Announces Their Initial Lineup

It is time to be festive for the holidays and we couldn't imagine anything else that would make us giddy with delight than the news of DelFest's initial lineup - DelYeah!  

This year’s DelFest will, as usual, take place over Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, 2024 and is the festival brainchild of Del McCoury and his extended McCoury family.  This year DelFest will be celebrating its 16th year!  Can you believe we have already had 15 magical DelFest editions - each one getting better and better and filled with enough musical history and memories to fill up your local library!

DelFest will once again be held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds in beautiful Cumberland, MD.  DelFest originated from the desire to create a family-friendly music festival celebrating the rich legacy of McCoury music while creating a forum for world-class musical collaborations and showcasing fresh, new talent. 

This festival is truly one of the most magical festivals in the region and is somewhat without words to describe it.  DelFest has special moments and keepsakes for everyone who attends - such is the diversity of entertainment and special moments throughout Allegany County Fairgrounds.  Some attendees talk about the Riverside Sessions, others talk about the secret sets they witnessed, while others talk about floating down the river on an inner tube, and everyone talks about the sounds of instruments playing at fireside jams throughout the fairgrounds.

Today is the day everyone’s been waiting for: The initial DelFest 2024 lineup is here!  DelFest just announced their initial lineup featuring some fan favorite returning artsist and some new aritsts.

The initial lineup for DelFest 2024 includes: The Del McCoury Band, The Travelin' McCoury's, Greensky Bluegrass, Old Crow Medicine Show, Sierra Ferrell, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, Sam Grisman Project, Sister Sadie, Mr. Sun, Big Richards, Drè Anders, East Nash Grass, Dirty Grass Players, and Armchair Boogie, alongside Joe Craven who returns as the master of ceremonies.

We want to take a quick moment to shoulder-shimmy with delight and DMV pride as The Dirty Grass Players were announced as part of the initial lineup announcement.  We have followed this band and watched them grow over the years.  Last year they filled The DelFest Music Hall to capacity.  What a beautiful moment for the DMV as one of their very own had the presitgious music call overflowing and brimming with delight, dancing, and thunderous energy!  We hope to see them at one of the larger stages this year now that they have outgrown the music hall. 

For those that have never attended DelFest, once you make the pilgrimage to Cumberland, Maryland, you will understand why this weekend is more than just a festival.  It is a beloved home that is firmly affixed to the concert calendar for so many across the country.   For those that have been to DelFest, this is a journey back to their home away from home - same campsite, same neighbors, same fun from sunrise to sunset, and memories that will last a lifetime.  

In addition to traditional stage sets by these world-class artists, attendees can again expect to see one-of-a-kind collaborations, special guest sit-ins, various tributes to Del McCoury and his musical legacy, and intimate appearances from the aforementioned artists. Delfest will, as usual, be immediately preceded by the 3-day DelFest Academy hosted by The Travelin’ McCourys and other all-star players.

For music fans across the country, we know that this initial lineup announcement will make you as happy and excited as we are.  Oh, the tremendous adventures we will have on the other side of winter!  We already have the sounds of DelFest artists ringing in our ears and dancing like beautiful sugar plum faries.
